After meeting for breakfast earlier this year in Atlanta, Frankmusik and I caught up in Los Angeles two weeks ago in his studio to talk about some of the brand-new music he has been working on.
He may have been out of the picture for a while, but he sure has been busy. Tapping into his replenished musical mojo, Frankmusik (aka Vince Frank) has not only recorded dozens of songs for his own new album, he has also been collaborating with promising newcomers like Far East Movement and Colette Carr. And if all of that wasn't enough, he's also a partner in Killpop Records, a new L.A. based music label that he helped establish.
After listening to fantastic new tracks such as "The Fear Inside," "We Collide," and "Breaklights," Vince and I chatted a bit more about his move to Los Angeles, the "urban" sound of his new album, his mixed feelings about his debut LP "Complete Me," some of the new tracks he has been working on, and being part of Martin Kierszenbaum's hot and happening Cherrytree Records family.
Super fun interview and lots of new insights for fans. Many of the songs I've heard were not mastered yet, but I can most definitely conclude that fans will have nothing to worry about. His new work is still decidedly Frankmusik, but Vince has upped his game and is putting together an album that is tighter, bolder and more current than what he has ever done before. One of the first thing to look out for is a viral video for "The Fear Inside" that should be hitting YouTube soon.
