One day, you could find yourself debating whether Torchwood season ten was as good as season nine, if current plans continue. At least, star John Barrowman says the current plan is for seven more years of the Doctor Who spinoff.
Talking to a newspaper about the new U.S.-U.K. co-production, Torchwood: The New World, Barrowman said:
I have turned down a load of other shows to make Torchwood. We'll be filming it in LA as it's now a collaboration between the BBC and the Starz Network in America. They're planning to make it for the next seven years. So I'll be spending six months a year in Hollywood and six back in the UK.
Obviously, plans can change — like, if the show's ratings don't meet with Starz's expectations in the U.S., or it loses viewers on the BBC — but it's nice to know there's a seven-year plan for now. Of course, you have wonder how they're planning on explaining Barrowman's aging, given that Captain Jack is supposed to be frozen in time. (Sure, they had that one line in "The Last of the Time Lords" about him showing slight signs of aging. But after seven more years, it might be more than just slight signs.) Also, are we going to see Gwen's kid grow up on the show?
